Fluidized Moving Bed Bio Filtration – MBBR-style bio balls move freely in water, creating a biofilm surface for beneficial bacteria that help break down waste and maintain healthy pond water.

Self-Cleaning, Low Maintenance Media – Continuous motion sheds older bio layers and prevents clogging, reducing the cleaning required compared to foam, mats, or lava rock.

Supports Healthy Pond Ecosystems – Encourages beneficial bacteria growth that converts waste into natural nutrients, helping fish and aquatic plants thrive.

Multiple Sizes & Capacities Available – Offered in small or large bio ball designs and 1, 2, or 3.5 cubic foot volumes to match different pond filtration systems and bio-load requirements.

Media Bio Balls (MBBR) are advanced biological filter media designed to support beneficial bacteria and maintain a balanced pond ecosystem. The bio-comb style structure provides a large protected surface area where beneficial bacteria can attach and grow, helping convert fish waste and ammonia into natural nutrients that support aquatic plants and healthy pond conditions. Unlike traditional filter media such as foam pads, mats, or lava rock, fluidized media naturally sheds older biofilm layers while allowing new bacterial colonies to develop. This self-cleaning action reduces maintenance while maintaining consistent biological filtration performance. The media moves freely inside filters or weirs, maximizing oxygen exposure and improving bacterial activity. Fluidized bio media can support higher fish loads without requiring larger pumps or filtration systems, making it ideal for moving bed bio-reactor (MBBR) systems and biological pond filters. Beneficial bacteria typically begin colonizing the media within 7–20 days in a stable pond environment. Available in both large and small media sizes with 1, 2, and 3.5 cubic foot options to match different pond filtration needs.

Self-Cleaning Bio Media +

Creates biofilm for beneficial bacteria to attach and grow. Converts waste into natural nutrients. Self-cleaning—sheds old bio layers while new colonies grow. Moves freely in your filter with almost no maintenance.

Self-Cleaning Bio Media

Better Than Foam, Mats & Lava Rock +

Traditional media builds thick layers that need frequent cleaning. Fluidized bio balls shed old layers automatically. Bacteria colonize in 7-20 days. Handle higher fish loads with the same pump and filter.
